Dear Pope John Paul II Families and Community,
My name is Dr. Lisa Griffiths Delgado. I am honored and blessed to serve in the role of principal for one of my favorite Pope’s of all time Pope John Paul II. He embraced the world. He dedicated his life to fixing social injustice, loving and respecting all humanity, and educating through his written work. He instilled in me the same love of God, education and multiculturalism.
A little about myself: I grew up on the South Side of Chicago, where I attended St. George Elementary School. My family lost their jobs during the 80’s which meant I could no longer attend St. George school. I attended Calumet College of St. Joseph where I realized my true mission is to teach our faith and live our faith through the work of education.
I worked as a teacher at St. Thaddeus, moved on to CPS schools, the first Illinois International Baccalaureate School and then came home to Sacred Heart School on the South Side of Chicago. During this time, I went to school and attained two master’s Degrees in Curriculum and Leadership and a Doctoral Degree in Organizational Leadership.
When I interviewed at Pope John Paul II, I knew this was my new home. The school is very warm and inviting. Everyone is very welcoming from the amazing priests, teachers, students, parents and community members. This school is really living Pope John Paul II mission.
Thank you for your warm welcome and kindness and I look forward to meeting and working with all of you. Please come and meet me this summer. I will be at school planning for a wonderful school year. I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas as we move forward into the 2019-2020 school year. After all it takes a village to raise our children!
May God Bless you.
Dr. Lisa Griffiths Delgado
