CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES AT PJP2
Pope John Paul II Catholic School has many clubs and activities available to our students. Participation provides students with enriching opportunities for additional learning outside of the scope of the classroom, while offering experiences in leadership, community outreach, working as part of a team, school spirit, compassion and responsibility, and identity within our school community.
NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY NEWS
The PJP2 National Junior Honor Society is sponsoring a Lego Club! Students in grades K-4 may join us for an hour of after-school creative fun. All Legos used will become part of the PJP2 Lego collection since separation of individual sets will be nearly impossible! Donations of Legos would be most appreciated. Watch your weekly notices for specific dates and times.

STUDENT NEWSPAPER
The PJP2 Student Newspaper is published periodically throughout the year, and features stories written by students for students. This club meets after school and provides students with the opportunity to hone their writing skills while informing their peers about what is happening in the school community and beyond.
ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB
"Giving the Earth a Hand" is the mantra for the PJPII Environmental Club. Members are responsible for recycling in the school building, and are committed to educating the school community about conservation and recycling practices. The Environmental Club continues to support the work of the Audubon Society through its Capri Sun wrapper collection. This year, the club will expand to include a Junior Division which will encourage students as young as Kindergarten to reduce, reuse, and recycle and become better stewards of planet Earth.
MATH CLUB
Mrs. Cunningham will be holding Math Club every other Tuesday from 2:00 to 2:45 PM, beginning the first week of October. Math Club will be offered to all students in grades 3 through 8 to reinforce classroom skills. Parents will be responsible for picking children up upon dismissal. After care is available for Math Club students on the days we meet.
SCRAPBOOK CLUB
Save those Holiday snapshots. We meet Tuesdays throughout the year. Bring photos and a 12" by 12" album. We will use stickers and creative papers to make our memories stand out. The monthly fee is $3.00 to cover supplies. Open to students in grades 3 to 5.
RIPTIDE
If you love to read poetry, short stories, or essays, you might be interested in joining the staff of RIPTIDE, PJPII's online literary magazine. If you love to write, RIPTIDE is always looking for contributions from the school community.
OUTDOORS CLUB
Can you use a compass, identify trees and birds, or read the sky for changing weather patterns? Do you enjoy getting outside for a walk? If any of these things interest you, then the Outdoors Club is the perfect extracurricular activity. The club will meet once a month after school, but hopes to plan a parent/student hike some Saturday this fall, and again in the spring.
GAME CLUB
Mrs. Dombroski and Mrs. Lugo will be sponsoring a Game Club for students in Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2. It will be held one day a month after school from 2:00 to 2:45 beginning in October. The students will be playing traditional board games such as Candyland, Chutes & Ladders, Checkers, Sorry, Memory Game and others, which will teach and reinforce counting, matching and social skills to the students.
KITCHEN CLUB
The Kitchen Club provides an opportunity for students to learn kitchen skills and try new recipes. The club meets once per month from October through May on Monday afternoons from 2-4pm. Students in 5th through 8th grades are welcome to sign up each month. Specific dates and recipes-appetizers, side dishes or desserts-are made known on the monthly notice. The monthly fee is $10 to cover ingredients.
