Every morning at 8AM our Pope John Paul II School Community gathers together in the gym for morning prayers and announcements. On the morning of September 11, 2009, we gathered and remembered the events of eight years earlier, on September 11, 2001. We prayed for those who died in New York City, Washington D.C., and on United Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

A replica of a banner hanging at the site in Shanksville (shown above) was displayed with our flag. The artist, C. Donna Martin, an EMT from Dawson, PA gave the following explanation for the design:

     "The Heart is for the heartbreak of America. The stars are for New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. The colors are for the strength and power of our nation."
